October Name Project: Bonus 3

CAROLINE :
Pronounced: CARE-o-line
Origin(s): French, English, Scottish
Meaning: “Manly”, French feminine form of CHARLES, from the Germanic name Karl, which was derived from a Germanic word which meant “man”. Monaco’s Princess Caroline Grimaldi is the beautiful daughter of Prince Rainier and American motion-picture actress Grace Kelly.
Special Significance: Caroline B. was one of my girlfriends when I was in university; she had the most exquisite cheekbones I have ever had the privilege to know!

ORSON :
Pronounced: OR-sun
Origin(s): French, Latin
Meaning: Little bear, from the Norman French ors, and ultimately from Latin ursus. In 1938, Orson Welles panicked the listening public with a radio adaptation of H. G. Wells’s The War of the Worlds, done in the style of a news broadcast.
Special Significance: One of my budgies is named Orson (that’s Orson Budgie, not “horse and buggy”!), after Orson Welles, one of my favourite directors.

Information sources include Behind the Name and Baby Zone. I don’t know why I decided to do this little project, but I posted two names each day for the month of October. The first 26 days were for names from “A” to “Z”; the last five are a bonus of names that are special to me.
