What MAGAZINE are you?

B-R-C was going nuts this week trying to get Cedar Grove ready for her to host the End-of-Year Staff Party, which took place last night.

She was driving me nuts, too, because she was trying to get everything absolutely perfect and charming. I quipped that she wanted to live in a “Better Homes and Gardens” magazine. And added that if we got to choose which magazine we’d live in, I’d rather pick “Playboy”!

So here’s a new, get-to-know-you personality quiz:

What MAGAZINE are you?

You can choose any magazine past or present, but it has to be a real magazine, not one you make up.

A thought about trees

I like trees. Trees are good for you. Trees are your friend. Anybody who thinks we don’t need trees is an Enemy of the Environment.

As for MY trees, we have a lot of them on our property. Mostly, they are relatively small cedar trees, which is why we decided to name our place (yeah, weird, but it’s a family tradition) “Cedar Grove.”

I was a little worried about my trees yesterday because I saw a series of orange dots painted on the ground on the new neighbour’s side. The trees are very close to the property line but if you sight along the back fence, they seem to be on my side. Since the survey was done in 1923, the accuracy over time may be called into question.

So I was worried the new neighbour might have thought they were his and might try to cut them down because they are very close to his house. However this morning, there were two guys BUILDING A FENCE where those orange dots were. The trees are safe on my side for sure now.

I don’t know how I feel about being fenced in like that… and how a silly fence will make the street look… even though the fence building guys said it’s going to be a low fence… but that is another issue.

Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat…

Where have **I** been? I just noticed my previous journal entry was well over a month ago! Holy shite!

If you care about what I’ve been up to, comment to ask me a question and I’ll answer it to the best of my ability.

One final note for today…

I really HAVE to stop reading my livejournal while I’m at work. I am on too many NWS channels, and it’s making me lose concentration on the boring stuff I really ought to be doing instead.

Mediocre English

This article on A Mediocre Year for Maple Syrup really made me angry!

(BUM) The price of maple syrup will be more expensive this year because of a below average harvest.

Excuse me, but I don’t think a below average harvest will make the PRICE any more expensive! A below average harvest will either

  1. make the maple syrup more expensive, or
  2. make the price higher.

Doesn’t anybody write good English anymore?

And never mind that their math just doesn’t add up!

Oh, it just makes me so ANGRY!!

Bring on the Dancin’ Girls!!

My Accountant wanted to know the status of my tax stuff. Here is a summary of “My Life At The Moment”:

Priority #1 has been preparing for B-R-C’s job interviews. Yes, I know they are HER job interviews, but you know how things like this go… **I** had to do the work to prepare her PowerPoint Portfolio! Fortunately, the interviews are today: one is right now; the other at the end of the workday today.

The Other Priority #1 was getting the basement ready for the installs. That’s done with now.

The Other Other Priority #1 was setting up for Passover. That’s also done with now.

Priority #2 was trying to get the Mosaic web site ported over before the May 7th renewal deadline. That’s tomorrow and the work is just barely started. So I had to renew after all, and so I’ve got a year to do the work on that.

Priority #3 is dealing with the shed. I have to measure the backyard, figure out what shed to get, determine when it will be installed, and move the existing shed before that happens. Measuring should take place tonight or tomorrow evening, I hope.

Priority #4 WILL BE dealing with my papers. Fortunately, I still have the banquet tables in the Great Room, so I’ve set up there and started that project.

As for the 2006 tax slips, I’m sure they are around SOMEWHERE. The challenge will be determining which box they are in!! I have the “Business Papers” and “Active Papers” boxes at hand…

What I need are some Nekkid Dancing Girls to provide inspiration and incentive to get the work done!! Any volunteers?
