October Name Project: Bonus 5

LINDA :
Pronounced: LIN-da
Origin(s): Spanish, Latin, English, German
Meaning: Pretty or beautiful in Spanish, or “Snake; Lime tree; linden tree” in German/English origins. Child model-turned-actress Linda Blair is best known for playing the possessed teenager in the horror classic The Exorcist (1973). Despite her small stature (she is 4′ 9″), actress Linda Hunt opted to pursue a career in the spotlight and won an Oscar playing a male dwarf opposite Mel Gibson in The Year of Living Dangerously (1983). Paul Hogan married his Crocodile Dundee (1986) co-star, Linda Kozlowski, in 1990.
Special Significance: Linda H. is my Best Girl Buddy, and my biking partner.

MICHAEL :
Pronounced: MIE-kul
Origin(s): Hebrew
Meaning: From the Hebrew name Mikha’el meaning “who is like God?”. In the Bible and early Jewish literature, the archangel Michael is one of the angels of God’s presence. Canadian-born actor Michael J. Fox played the conservative teenager of hippie parents on Family Ties (1982-89), and starred in the three Back to the Future movies (1985, 1989, 1990).
Special Significance: It says Michael on my birth certificate, but I usually go by Mike. This name is also said to mean “Gift from God” which gives credence to my theory that “I am God’s Gift (to women)”!

Information sources include Behind the Name and Baby Zone. I don’t know why I decided to do this little project, but I posted two names each day for the month of October. The first 26 days were for names from “A” to “Z”; the last five were a bonus of names that are special to me.

…and now it’s over!
