“I would like to just get through the day and then wake up on the 12th,” said firefighter Lt. Mickey Kross, who was trapped for nearly three hours in the Trade Center collapse. “Then I want to go somewhere and not tell anybody I’m a fireman. I’ll tell them I’m a button salesman or something, and I want to go sit by myself and reassess my life.”
I think this, more than anything else I’ve seen or read, really shows what the true impact of the tragedy has been.
