{"id":904,"date":"2009-03-02T09:40:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-02T09:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/badinage.com\/journal\/?p=904"},"modified":"2009-03-02T09:40:00","modified_gmt":"2009-03-02T09:40:00","slug":"have-a-wonderful-garbage-free-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/badinage.com\/journal\/2009-03\/904-have-a-wonderful-garbage-free-day","title":{"rendered":"Have a wonderful, garbage-free day!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Somebody sent me one of those <b>Things**<\/b> about not dumping your emotional garbage on other people, and ended the piece with the line: <i>&#8220;Have a wonderful, garbage-free day!&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p>So I got thinking about the <b>physical garbage<\/b> in my life.<\/p>\n<p>B-R-C and I (used to?) belong to this &#8220;outdoor club&#8221; and we once had a pot-luck party\/meeting at our house so we could discuss the upcoming canoe season. I realized that we have such an environmentally-friendly house!!<\/p>\n<p>After they had eaten, people were coming into the kitchen to ask &#8220;where is the garbage [can]?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I told them <i>&#8220;We don&#8217;t <b>DO<\/b> &#8216;garbage&#8217; in this house!&#8221;<\/i> Here&#8217;s why:<\/p>\n<p>1. Food scraps and paper napkins go in the <font color=\"#008800\"><b>GREEN BIN<\/b><\/font> (compost).<\/p>\n<p>2. Heavy-duty plastic cutlery gets washed for reuse.<\/p>\n<p>3. Plastic cups, plates, and cutlery that can&#8217;t be used again goes into the <font color=\"#000088\"><b>BLUE BOX<\/b><\/font> (recycling).<\/p>\n<p>What is left to go in the <font color=\"#880000\"><b>GARBAGE CAN<\/b><\/font>? Practically nothing! (Which, unfortunately, was also the outcome of our meeting with regards to the paddling program!
