I really do wish I had more time, and energy, to write, either in this journal or on paper. But alas, Life, it seems, has other plans for me. Perhaps like sleep… yesterday I was SO TIRED after I got home from work that I crashed out for three hours!

It rained today. Finally. The gardens needed it. Big, honking, noisy, tumultuous rain. I don’t know if it is the kind of rain that is beneficial for the garden, too much too soon, but just the same it rained.

Yesterday, thanks to the convergence of my energy level, amount of daylight, time of day, and suitably dry weather, I was finally able to do some more work on my deck. I only started it… oh, FIVE years ago, according to the Building Permit! It’s been 90% complete for the last two years. It was 80% complete for the two years prior to that, but I distinctly remember a puppy named Karma poking her nose and subsequently her tiny body through spaces in the stairs where boards were supposed to have been. She is 10 days shy of her second birthday. What needs to be completed at this point are the handrails on the lower set of stairs, and a few mandatory safety features to prevent small bodies falling through the cracks. I feel good about the work I managed to accomplish, and expect to continue the work later in the week if the weather clears up and holds.

The following is from a post I started on Tuesday, June 19, 2007, but as it was at 4:54 p.m. and I needed to get out of the office to catch my bus home, I never finished it.
