Since I got multipli-stung by bees on the weekend, I’ve been doing some reading on the internet about controlling pests around the house. I’ve learned quite a bit, not much of which pleases me, and I’m going to have some tough decisions to make before I’m done.<\/p>\n
1. Bees<\/b><\/a> make their nests in the ground. I did not know this. That’s probably why I didn’t see where they came from, and most likely angered them by plopping my big fat butt down on their homes!! But normally, they don’t cause much trouble, and it is recommended NOT to try to eradicate the nest. The web said that even the professional exterminators don’t like doing that.My friend Lynne has already bailed from helping tear down the old deck this coming weekend for fear of bees, even though the deck and the bee zone are at opposite ends of the yard. I’m not sure what I’m going to do about these guys. <\/p>\n 2. Mice<\/b><\/a> apparently have an amazing homing instinct<\/a>. I was originally planning to live trap them and throw them outside, but I don’t think I’ll be able to do that now. I may be forced to snap trap them, which I am reluctant to do.<\/p>\n The other issue with pest control is that I have as pets two budgies which have tender resperatory systems. I’m afraid that any use of pesticides will be harmful to them. I don’t even let aerosols be used in the house!
