{"id":47,"date":"2002-07-03T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2002-07-03T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/badinage.com\/journal\/?p=47"},"modified":"2002-07-03T13:00:00","modified_gmt":"2002-07-03T13:00:00","slug":"hope-you-are-surviving-the-heat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/badinage.com\/journal\/2002-07\/47-hope-you-are-surviving-the-heat","title":{"rendered":"Hope you are surviving the heat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are in the middle of an Official Heat Wave, complete with Humidex and Smog advisories.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, we had temperatures reaching 36\u00b0C, with Humidex factor to 43 \u00b0C!<\/p>\n<p><!--more more hot stuff!--><br \/>\n<i>At least I was prepared for the heat!<\/i> I drank a 600 ml pop bottle of water on the way to work, had one about a half hour before I left the office, and another one on the way home!<\/p>\n<p>I did a Good Deed, too. There was a guy on the afternoon bus who was about to croak from the heat, so I dribbled some water on him and in his mouth&#8211; there was no way I was going to let a stranger&#8217;s lips touch my bottle!<\/p>\n<p>He was stupid: he was about my age, slightly over-weight (but solid), had a shaved head, and NO hat nor water with him! When we got to the Long Branch bus terminal, I also noticed he didn&#8217;t cross the road to get some water at any of the stores there&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tristia.livejournal.com\/\" class=\"lj-user\">tristia<\/a> wrote <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.livejournal.com\/talkread.bml?journal=tristia&#038;itemid=155476&#038;nc=3\">about the heat<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n<p>This morning before I left, I gave the boys some air conditioning for the day. Since Orson went easily into Ridley&#8217;s cage, I left him there. I put the window bath dish on top of the cage, and put three big ice cubes in it. That should keep them cool for a while!
