{"id":44,"date":"2002-06-28T15:54:00","date_gmt":"2002-06-28T15:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/badinage.com\/journal\/?p=44"},"modified":"2002-06-28T15:54:00","modified_gmt":"2002-06-28T15:54:00","slug":"hooray-for-canada-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/badinage.com\/journal\/2002-06\/44-hooray-for-canada-day","title":{"rendered":"Hooray for Canada Day!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So it&#8217;s <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.pch.gc.ca\/ceremonial-symb\/english\/day_can.html\">Canada Day<\/a> weekend! <b>Yay!<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tonight, I&#8217;ll strap the <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.novacraft.com\/tripper.htm\">canoe<\/a> on top of the car. Then early tomorrow morning, I&#8217;ll be on my way up north for a party at a friend&#8217;s cottage just outside of <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.ontarioparks.com\/kill.html\">Killarney Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I won the canoe a couple of years ago in the annual raffle for <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.friendsofkillarneypark.ca\/\">Friends of Killarney Park<\/a>, and this is the first time I&#8217;ll be using it!<\/p>\n<p>The last time I went to this party&#8211; it&#8217;s an almost-annual thing&#8211; I drove up with Christine on Friday night to her cottage in the <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.muskoka.com\/tourism\/\">Muskokas<\/a>, and then went from there to Killarney the next day. It was nice because it cut the drive into two sections, even though the overall trip was a little longer. (Muskoka is kind of out of the way to Killarney, but I had some company and <i>an agenda<\/i> so I didn&#8217;t mind!)<\/p>\n<p>I asked Christine if she wanted to go again this time, but so far I haven&#8217;t heard back from her. It&#8217;s executive decision time, I guess, so I&#8217;ll plan to do the whole trip tomorrow. I just hope I get out of the city early enough to not get stuck in traffic and get to the cottage at a decent time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So it&#8217;s Canada Day weekend!
