Here’s a letter I’m about to send…<\/p>\n\n\n

Re: Change to Hours of Free Parking<\/a><\/b> (effective January 2, 2003)
\n   “For cash customers no more free parking after 3pm, Monday to Friday. Free parking only on weekends and holidays.”<\/p>\n

I think this change in parking policy is a bad idea, and will discourage TTC ridership. <\/p>\n

When I go to work, I leave my car at home and take the TTC to the office. I buy subway tokens when I need them. I do not make enough trips in a month (52) so a Metropass is not cost-effective.<\/p>\n

Occasionally I go downtown in the evening during the week. I used to park my car for free at Islington Station, and take the subway in to town, especially if I was heading somewhere close to the subway line.<\/p>\n

Now, if I am to do the same thing, I need to park at the $4 lot on Cordova, and walk all the way to the subway. I don’t mind paying $3.80 (2 subway tokens) for the convenience of taking the TTC downtown. But I am NOT<\/b> going to pay $7.80 or $8.80 for the INconvenience of having to park so far away; I can park downtown for cheaper!<\/p>\n

So not only will you NOT<\/b> be getting my parking money, but you will NOT<\/b> be getting my TTC fare money, either.<\/p>\n

You should be doing more to encourage TTC ridership, and I urge you to reverse this change in parking policy.<\/b><\/p>\n
