Mom is in town for a Library Convention— at 72 she’s still going strong. She and my Dad are busier now that they have retired than they ever were when they were working! My sister was in town representing a vendor at the Convention, and my brother came into town for the heck of it.

After dinner I walked up John St. from the Convention Centre to catch the 501 streetcar on Queen St. I was going at my own quick pace with my destination in mind and not paying too much attention to what was going on around me. I’m like that; I just get into my own little groove in my own little world, and let everything else just go on around me.

Between Adelaide and Richmond, I passed a couple of people. I didn’t take notice of them as I approached from behind, it being dark and slippery sidewalks and all. But as I got beside them, I heard one of them talking— the voice was familiar! It was a certain someone I used to know!

I just ignored them and kept walking past. Normally, if it had been someone I knew but hadn’t seen in quite a while, I would have stopped to say hello and chit-chat and all. Not this time. After all, I had no reason to since she stated so vehemently that she wanted no further contact with me. I wonder if she recognized me as I went by.

Later when I was on the streetcar on my way home, I was thinking maybe I SHOULD have turned and said hello… nothing more… just to see what her reaction would have been!

Sometimes I think I’m the King of Second Thoughts and After Thoughts!!

This evening after work, I went downtown to meet my mother, sister, and brother for dinner.
