This is an Anglicized form of GWENFREWI, which is derived from the Welsh elements <i>gwen<\/i> &#8220;white, fair, blessed&#8221; and <i>frewi<\/i> &#8220;reconciliation, peace&#8221;. <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.factmonster.com\/ce6\/people\/A0814609.html\">Clemence Dane<\/a> was the pseudonym of English novelist and playwright <b>Winifred Ashton<\/b>.
