Pleasantly surprised, yes, but surprised nonetheless.

Yesterday, I scanned a bunch of author’s drawings for a chapbook I’m publishing (as the publisher, not the author). Tonight, I spent a couple of hours digitally manipulating the scans, cleaning them up and getting them ready to use. I’m getting better at my digital work, too. Now I have to fit them into the document, but I think I’m too tired to do it properly tonight.

In other news, I’m happy to announce (or not announce as the case may be) that I have passed the “obsession stage” as far as a Certain Someone is concerned. At first it went into the “morbid curiosity phase” where it’s like rubber-necking at a car crash as you pass by on the highway; you know you shouldn’t pay any attention to it because you’ll just cause a frickin’ traffic jam, but you just can’t seem to help yourself. I thought I would stay at that level for a while, periodically poking my nose in where it doesn’t belong, but now I realize that Zip! Zap! Zot! It’s already progressed into “boredom”! They’ve picked up the broken bodies, cleaned up all the blood, and there’s nothing left to see. Time to move on. That which no longer holds any Entertainment Value is not worth the trouble or the effort. Life is like that.

And so it goes.

It’s been a productive evening for me; I’m somewhat surprised.
