Countdown to Xoozland Bye-Bye

Well, the Old House is finally (almost) ready to go on the market! It’s been a LOT of work! It always seems people put more effort in fixing up their house to sell it than they bother doing while they live in it. Some of that I now understand.

Some of the things we did over the past month could not have been done while we were actually living in the house. There’s just so much STUFF that has to be moved, and some processes are so highly TOXIC at the time of application (eg. fumes from floor finishing) that it is virtually impossible to live in the house for a couple of weeks. Some of the things I might have done before I moved in nearly ten years ago, but did not have the time, money, or inclination at the time. Some of the things, such as resodding the backyard, we might not have done at all, or we might not have done them all at once, if we were staying in the house.

B-R-C and I have been busting our butts. We’ve done all we can do, short of completely redoing the place. It is now time to sit back and let the fates, our real estate professional, and the market influences decide the outcome.

CRITICAL DATES
Wed, October 10th: Listing goes into the MLS system.
Thu, October 11th: Agent Open House.
Sat, October 13th: Public Open House.
Sun, October 14th: Public Open House.
Wed, October 17th: Offers Accepted.

AM I NERVOUS? Well, yes and no. This whole operation has been QUITE STRESSFUL. I think I am going to go out for WINGS and BEERS on Thursday (11th) evening. Because I can. And because I think I’m going to need to get a little bit drunk. Then a week later, I’m going to do the same thing again, this time to celebrate!

P.S. Once the house sells and the Closing Date has been determined, I’m going to have a HOUSE COOLING PARTY. Stay tuned for details. You are all invited, if you can make it!
