Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I was having A Crappy Day? That was the day that I went downtown to fight that damned parking ticket that I got when we were out on Chocoholic’s Birthday that I never should have gotten anyway.
Well, I finally heard from the Toronto Parking Tag Operations department. They confirmed and acknowledged that it was a case of “machine defective”. They wrote:
“Your enquiry has been investigated by this office. The above-noted parking infraction has been cancelled. Please be advised parking is prohibited if the meter or pay and display machine cannot be set into operation or issue a valid receipt. Please keep this letter for your records.”
So there you go. Now you know.
They could get quite a scam going just by purposely buggering the machines, issuing tickets, and then waiting for all that revenue from parking tickets issued to people who figure it isn’t worth the trouble or don’t have the time to visit the Parking Tag Office IN PERSON to fight!!
