In response to my suggestion to go to a certain coffee chain (which shall remain nameless from now on!) to by a beverage to get them to donate $1 (up to $10K) to Tree Canada, Gary wrote:
The thought is good; I don’t want to totally trash the concept. However, it’s just too tempting…
I suspect they are considering two things re the promo: March Break, and the day after St. Paddie’s, when many Torontonians will be eager to quaff a hot, soothing non-acoholic drink.
- On the cynical side…
- ten thou is pretty cheap for a corporate and product promo
- how may trees will fall to make the cups & paper serviettes for their new drink
- don’t be a sap – quit bleeding those trees!
So I thought about it, and here’s an even better idea!
Tree Canada has MANY ways you can purchase things and cause a donation to happen. In fact, you can even donate DIRECTLY to Tree Canada! And Canadian residents receive tax receipts for donations of $25.00 or greater.
You wouldn’t get THAT with your beverage. On the other hand, you wouldn’t get a beverage from donating directly.
Remember this important point: The air we breathe comes from the trees. If you like to breathe, plant a tree!
