I’m a Busy Beaver

I’ve had a very productive day, though I am glad I had my blood pressure check up first thing this morning and not later.

After I dropped Chocoholic off at school, I…

  1. drove up to Bayview and Eglinton for my doctor’s appointment. BP was a little high (stress from driving through the Beaches??) at 130/80, but is close enough to normal that she agreed to let me come off the medication! I said I’d continue taking it until my current supply is gone, about two weeks worth.
  2. stopped in at Dominion to get some groceries, mostly stuff for lunch and to keep in my desk to nibble on when I work the Late Shift.
  3. stopped in at Home Hardware and got some Plastic Wood needed to use on the Bread Machine Board project. Chocoholic still needs to make a design/decorating decision: what finish to put on the moulding around the base. Choices are dark wood stain, light wood stain (or any other colour in between), or paint in a variety of colours. The tiles for the top are grey marble pattern.
  4. stopped in to Space Age Shelving. Made an appointment for a consultation on the kitchen, hall, and bedroom to see how I can make better use of the space. They are coming over on Saturday at 10 am.
  5. drove back down Bayview and stopped in at Sloblaws again to see if there was ANY chance to get my clipboard back. Once again they are denying any knowledge of it, nor were they willing to check with anybody in the back room! No surprise there. So unless by some weird miracle it turns up somewhere else, I’ve lost my mother’s clipboard for good. Please remind me to get another one at Grand & Toy.
  6. drove home and stopped in at the Christie Factory Outlet store. Again, I wanted low-fat snacky stuff for lunch and to keep in my desk to nibble on when I work the Late Shift.
  7. once at home I got on the phone to that Collection Agency. THAT raised my blood pressure I am sure! I got transferred twice… once to a different number, and once to a supervisor. They were useless to do anything about it except collect the money, and they would NOT go back to their client to resolve the issue. Instead, they forced a phone number on me so that **I** could call their client (the one who claims I owe the money). I called that number, and after sitting on hold finally managed to talk to someone who said they would pass the information on to someone else for investigation. blah blah blah. All for less than $30! Any intelligent company would have written it off long ago! I think it is now my goal to do whatever I can to put that company out of business…
  8. called Enbridge, and arranged for someone to come in on Thursday morning (window between 8 and noon) to look at the warm water heater. (It used to be a HOT water heater, but you know how good it is!) I’m hoping I can get a new one, and that a replacement will fit down the stairs to the basement.
  9. made a sandwich and a piece of stringcheese for lunch.
  10. got on the computer and paid a bunch of bills.
  11. spent a little time with Orson.
  12. organized a bunch of food for lunch and to keep in my desk to nibble on when I work the Late Shift.
  13. did a sinkful of dishes. Well, it’s a start!
  14. drove to work. Nearly ran over some stupid punk kid crossing the street in the middle and dawdling as he went. Probably a candidate for Reform School, if he makes it that far!
  15. When I got to the parking lot, I was given a ticket from another patron, so I got free parking. I noticed that the parking lot collection guy (it’s an open lot with a meter like the lot at Sunnyside on Sunday) was taking money out of the machine and he saw me get the ticket from the other guy. I’ll be pissed if he gives me a parking ticket!

And that’s how my day has gone so far. I might need to crawl under my desk and take a nap later this evening!
