We are in the middle of an Official Heat Wave, complete with Humidex and Smog advisories.
Yesterday, we had temperatures reaching 36°C, with Humidex factor to 43 °C!
At least I was prepared for the heat! I drank a 600 ml pop bottle of water on the way to work, had one about a half hour before I left the office, and another one on the way home!
I did a Good Deed, too. There was a guy on the afternoon bus who was about to croak from the heat, so I dribbled some water on him and in his mouth– there was no way I was going to let a stranger’s lips touch my bottle!
He was stupid: he was about my age, slightly over-weight (but solid), had a shaved head, and NO hat nor water with him! When we got to the Long Branch bus terminal, I also noticed he didn’t cross the road to get some water at any of the stores there…
tristia wrote about the heat, too.
This morning before I left, I gave the boys some air conditioning for the day. Since Orson went easily into Ridley’s cage, I left him there. I put the window bath dish on top of the cage, and put three big ice cubes in it. That should keep them cool for a while! The house wasn’t too hot when I got home yesterday, so they’ll be okay today.
