Mission Accomplished!

Tonight was the Dinner and Dance for my High School Reunion. I was quite surprised that I had so much fun.

I have also accomplished the Three-Point Mission that I had set for myself.

  1. See my good friend Rosanne again. She and I have been exchanging e-mails over the last few months, catching up on what has happened over the years. It has been 25 years since we last saw each other! Talk about the years just melting away; it felt as if almost no time had gone by! I know we’re going to keep in touch from now on.
  2. Get in touch with Kathy again. She and I were friends in public school, and last saw each other the year after graduation. Then I went to university, she moved away and we lost contact. (My Dad ran into her mother once many years ago, who told him Kathy said “hello” but Dad failed to get me an address so I could write to Kathy!) Unfortunately, Kathy wasn’t at the reunion. But her best friend Beth was, and they have kept in touch. So Beth told me how Kathy was doing, and I gave her my information for Kathy to call me.
  3. See what happened to Tammy, the “Girl I had the Hots for.” It gave me great personal pleasure to see that she has packed on the pounds, which isn’t good for a woman her height! There are two footnotes to add to this: First, I can still see some of the cuteness in her face. Second, I noticed that in her present state, Tammy could be a dead-ringer for Dianne, a girl I dated several years after High School. Eerie!!

Tammy isn’t the only one who has not been treated entirely well by time. There were a lot of the “Beautiful People” who are well on the way to seeing their middle age spread. I, by the way, am (back to) the weight I was at graduation twenty-five years ago!

It was really fun sitting with my Geek/Nerd Friends and watching the “Beautiful People” at their table(s). In spite of all this time, the same cliques seemed to be maintained.

So I caught up with the few people I really wanted to (and vice versa) and will try to keep in contact with them. As for all the rest, I will gladly let them fade back into the recesses of my memories.

And no, I did NOT talk to Tammy, in spite of Rosanne continually pestering me that I should do so… perhaps if I see her tomorrow at the final Brunch, I might say hello.
