October Name Project: Bonus 2

PATRICK :
Pronounced: PAT-rik, PA-trik
Origin(s): Irish, English, French, German
Meaning: From the Roman name Patricius, which meant “nobleman” in Latin; Roman society was divided into plebeians (commoners) and patricians (aristocrats). Saint Patrick was one of the most successful Christian missionaries in history, and became the patron saint of Ireland. Before joining the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-94) as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Patrick Stewart worked for over 30 years as a member of England’s prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company (1966-97).
Special Significance: Patric M. has been my best friend since first year university.

SUZANNE :
Pronounced: soo-ZAN
Origin(s): French, German, Hebrew
Meaning: French form of SUSANNA, from the Hebrew name Shoshannah which was from the Hebrew word shoshan meaning “lily” (in modern Hebrew this also means “rose”). Actress Suzanne Somers is best known for playing the bubble-headed blonde “Christmas ‘Chrissy’ Snow” on Three’s Company.
Special Significance: This is my all-time favourite name, but it has to be spelled as Suzanne.

Information sources include Behind the Name and Baby Zone. I don’t know why I decided to do this little project, but I posted two names each day for the month of October. The first 26 days were for names from “A” to “Z”; the last five are a bonus of names that are special to me.
