I’m stuffed!

I couldn’t eat another thing. I’m absolutely stuffed.

Aside from the carbon monoxide scare, it was a terrific Thanksgiving dinner at my brother’s house.

  • Turkey
  • gravy
  • mashed potatoes
  • mashed sweet potatoes
  • broccoli
  • cranberry jelly
  • turkey stuffing
  • white wine
  • fresh-baked apple pie
  • vanilla ice cream
  • copious amounts of tea

As for the carbon monoxide scare, about 9:30 p.m. the CO detector started beeping, and registering from between 141 and 256 ppm. We opened some windows (wouldn’t you know the temperature would choose THAT night to drop to near freezing?!) to see if that would clear the air. Around midnight, after the reading didn’t change my brother called the Fire Department. Did you know there’s no after-hours non-emergency number to call? So the Fire Department showed up, and the Paramedics showed up, and someone from the Gas Company showed up. With their professional equipment there was NO EVIDENCE of any carbon monoxide in the house! Even the Gas Guy only got a reading of 5 ppm, and that was sticking his probe directly into the flue of the water heater! Apparently, those home CO detectors don’t last forever… but they don’t say that on the box. Grrrr!

So there’s another thing I’m thankful for.

And it looks like it’s going to be a nice, bright, sunny day. It would be perfect for deck building, except that it’s not going to get very warm… only about 9°C this afternoon!
