Home ownership means never having to say “I have free time to party!” hahaha
One of the things I’ve been doing lately is making “paint swatch blocks.”
I’ve got walls in the house that are painted, with no idea what colour they are. By that, I mean I can see what general colour they are, such as “reddish,” or “bluey,” or “green-like.” But as far as getting a colour match if we need to touch up anything… forget it!
I’ve got all these cans of paint: a few new ones we bought, some I brought with me from Xoozland, and ones that were left behind by the previous owners when we moved in from Cedar Grove.
So I’m opening up all the paint cans, seeing which ones actually contain usable paint, then painting one face of a wooden block (about 3″ x 4″) with each one. The back of the swatch block is labeled with identifying information, including which room it’s used in.
Then if we need to get more paint mixed, we just take the swatch block with us. If they can’t come up with the colour formula from the information we have, they can use the swatch block in their computer matching thingy to figure it out.
The swatch blocks are also easy to take with us when we go purchase accessories and furniture, too.
Pretty ingenius, if I do say so myself!!
