Yes, it’s true: the sale of the house at 22 Thirty-First Street has gone through!!
At the moment, I have a headache, which I’m hoping will pass soon. It has been quite a stressful month for B-R-C and me: massive clean up and spruce up to get the house on the market; a week of open houses and showings; and finally the offer night, with one that was eventually settled on.
While we had TWO OFFERS come in last night, we did NOT actually get into a bidding war. Only one of the two was worth working with, and we weren’t able to use the second offer as sufficient leverage to get a better price on the first offer. In the end, we managed to get a firm (no conditions) offer but at below asking price.
I have mixed emotions over the final deal, and the whole ordeal we went through. On one hand, I am disappointed that we did not get more for the house after all the hard work we put into it, but at the same time I am relieved that the process is effectively over and we don’t have to worry about it any more. And any problems still existing with the house are now “S.E.P” (Someone Else’s Problems)!
The closing date is November 30th.
