Ouch! My leg!

I don’t remember if I told you about my leg or not.

I hurt my right leg/knee a few weeks ago, probably twisting it while sleeping… thanks to Hefty Pup. B-R-C bugged me to go to the doctor but with the Ontario medical situation the way it is I’ve been resistant. I mean what is the doc going to say anyway? “It will get better eventually if I give it a chance to heal.” Which won’t happen too soon if we don’t get our 50-lb dog-ter off OUR bed and into her own!

Well, yesterday morning while coming down the steps on the front porch, I twisted it again!! This time I couldn’t walk without an almost-screaming pain. So I called the doctor… and got no answer. I decided it was time to go to the Urgent Care Clinic (formerly known as a Hospital). But I couldn’t drive myself there, and since I **HATE** cabbies so much, I didn’t want to take one. And truth be told, I didn’t really want to go to the clinic on my own. (Am I too much a baby now?)

So I spent the day laying on the couch resting my leg, snuggling with the Healing Dog, waiting for B-R-C to finish teaching so we could go to the clinic. Fortunately, a colleague offered us a ride there. We got there at 3:45 p.m approx. It took a half hour for us to get to the front of the Registration Line, five minutes to give them our name and ailment, and another two hour wait until they finally took me into a room for examination. And then…

And then…

And then the doctor looked at my knee. For two minutes.
— The diagnosis? I’ve twisted it, and possibly tore some small “miniscule” in the joint.
— The treatment? Use pressure relief when walking (i.e. use a cane and stay off it), talk anti-inflamatory pain killers (aka Aspirin or ibuprofen), and if desired, use a brace or tensor bandage.

In other words, do what I have been doing!! (Except that I hadn’t been using a cane and didn’t really take any pain killers.)

Don’t you just love the Ontario Health System??

B-R-C bugged me about going to see the doctor about my leg, and then when we finally went and we had to wait and wait and wait, she kept saying, “You OWE me…” like it was MY fault our medical system has deteriorated so much. Owe her? I owe her nothing. In fact, it’s the other way around! Maybe if she hadn’t dragged me around shopping and shopping and shopping every weekend and almost every available evening since I first started to feel the pain in my knee, maybe it would have gotten better sooner!? Do you think, maybe? And I somehow “owe her” now? She’s very lucky I can use a spade right now, or I’d be digging a deep hole in the backyard… heeheehee!

So how was your weekend?
