Wanna go canoeing?

Next year, obviously, but do you?

Over the Thanksgiving** weekend, B-R-C and I led a canoe trip on Six Mile Lake north of Parry Sound. This was a replacement for the cancelled Killarney Park trip we were to have led on the Labour Day weekend.

The trip was great! We couldn’t have asked for better weather. It was absolutely perfect for fall paddling! The total distance travelled was about 20 kilometres over three days. We had ONE IDIOT who caused us some grief… he didn’t do ANY of the work that was supposed to be shared, barely paddled when he was in the canoe (and then complained the day trip we went on wasn’t long enough!), was sullen and rude for the whole trip, didn’t eat much of the food because he didn’t like what we had on the menu (and didn’t say anything at the planning meetings before the trip!), and expected to be catered to the whole weekend. Needless to say, B-R-C and I have recommended this guy be banned from any future trips the group does.

I need the leadership days and distance in order to complete the requirements for my ORCA Canoe Tripper Level 2 qualifications. We already have plans to lead a in Killarney Park over the August long weekend in 2007.

I would love to take a bunch of goths out for a weekend in the woods. Just imagine the ghost stories we could tell around the campfire!! Let me know if you are SERIOUSLY interested, and I’ll get the ball rolling.

** For all you Americans, that was October 6th to 9th, in case you didn’t realize!
