Sickeningly Sweet Puppy E-Mail

B-R-C and I need to make arrangements for Karma when we go to my parents’ place for Passover. They have friends with a pair of rescued whippets, and a couple of other dogs though I can’t remember what kind.

We took Karma to visit them last fall, but because she hadn’t had all her shots yet, she couldn’t play with the other dogs. We haven’t had a chance to visit on subsequent trips since.

So I wrote:

Subject: Puppy Visit/Sitting?

Dear Liz & Rick,

My Mommy and Daddy (you know them as B-R-C and xooz2) are coming to town on the Easter weekend in April to participate in their annual Passover Seder. I don’t know what that is, but they told me it goes on and on for hours and there’s lots of yummy food on the table!

I’m getting to be a big dog now, but they say I can’t come to the party because two of my aunties and a cousin are allergic, and because they don’t think I’ll be able to be a good girl for the entire evening. Can you blame me? I want to join in the fun, too!

Mommy and Daddy want to know if I could come over to your house for the evening so you can look after me, and I can play with the whippets.

Love,
Karma

    And they replied:
Dear Karma,

Yes – you will be most welcome to come and be ‘dog-sat’ at our house. Please bring your favorite blanket or toy, or whatever makes you happy and we will try and take it away from you. My step brothers – Jed and Homer – are usually very kind to visitors. My real brother Zeus is sometimes not happy with visitors, but we will get him ready in advance and it should be okay.

I am hoping that you can run real fast and that you don’t mind being nipped a bit while you run!! We play pass over at our house too – pass over the bed, pass over the water dish, pass over the chairs and the door jamb…. Don’t know about all the food though….Mom keeps it all hidden away from me….

Please ask your Mom and Dad which night you are planning to come – Thursday or Friday?? Looking forward to meeting you and playing tag.

Love from China
