I just spent two weeks over the holidays painting in my house.
In the dining room, we went from a dark green (because it used to be my bedroom) to “Sugar Berry” (aka pink) and “Bridal Rose” (aka darker pink). Because we were covering up such a dark colour, I planned to put two intermediate coats before painting the final colour coat. But things didn’t quite go according to plan!
The first coat was a light green, which I had originally planned to use in the bedroom to do a “smooshing” technique. The second coat was a cream colour, using paint B-R-C had gotten in a donation for her art class. But we had problems with the paint and it came out blotchy and not nice. To fix that, I went to Home Despot and got a cheap ($18) can of primer to throw on that.
In the end, I added FOUR COATS of paint to the walls! We also painted the trim, and ceiling. I was most grateful that the ceiling didn’t come crashing down on my head as I half envisioned it might!
We also painted the new cabinet in the living room. That is a delightful “Pottery Red,” which is like a dark terracotta. Very Nice!
I don’t want to do any more painting for a little while!
