I worked the Late Shift last night, got home after midnight, and relaxed for an hour or so before going to bed. Karma and B-R-C (formerly refered to as Chocoholic) were already upstairs, and as soon as I got into bed around 1:30 a.m., Karma needed to go out! At 5:30 this morning, she needed to go out again. Of course, by then she was up and ready to PLAY! “Play, Daddy! Play!”
This morning, we had to go downtown for a doctor’s appointment. This meant we had to leave Karma alone for several hours. Since her crate is her personal space and shouldn’t be subject to soiling, B-R-C thought it would be better if we could somehow lock Karma in the kitchen. Alas, there’s no actual door to the kitchen and we have no doggie gate we can put up. So, clever dick that I am, I got out some wood clamps and a piece of board and clamped it across the doorway. Perfecto!
Newspapers were spread liberally around the kitchen floor to prepare for the eventuality. Karma, all tuckered out from her morning activities, lay down on the floor in the kitchen and had a nap. B-R-C and I took this opportunity to sneak out of the house.
This was the first time we’d left her alone since she arrived. (Gee, has she only been with us FOUR DAYS?!?) Upon our return, the poor little girl was in tears, thinking we had abandoned her! She was quite relieved to know we had come back for her.
I took Karma out for walkies while B-R-C checked the kitchen. The report is there were three items of business on the agenda: two from Column A; and one from Column B. All three were presented on the appropriate stationery and none on the floor itself. “Good Girl! Good Karma!”
BTW, IF you happen to come to Xoozland for a visit, please excuse the delightful aroma! Hopefully there won’t actually be one.
B-R-C says we only have four more months of this before Karma will be big enough to last through the night until a decent hour of daylight!! Having a (relatively) newborn in the house is such a wonderful experience.
