Well, we FINALLY managed to get together for dinner with tammy2tall and her husband Al. They came over to Xoozland about six o’clock for drinks and to see what we have done to the house. The last time tammy2tall was there, the living room still had wall-to-wall crapetting! (No, that’s NOT a typo…)
For dinner, we went to Momo’s Bistro in Etobicoke. It was a good, but expensive, meal. We started with drinks ($5.50 for beer, $8 for a glass of Australian red wine) and appetizers: “Thai Flavoured Steamed PEI Mussels” with lemongrass, ginger, garlic, lime and coconut milk ($10) and “Coconut Crusted Tiger Shrimps” with Thai dipping sauce ($11).
Al had the “Grilled Atlantic Salmon” with baby spinach, roasted beets in a pepper coulis ($20). I had the “Cumin and Herb Crusted Pan Seared Grouper” with crab mash, spinach and pineapple grape salsa ($21). tammy2tall had the “Shrimp and Scallops” with apellini, roasted garlic, fresh tomato, olive oil and herbs ($18). And the big spender, though she didn’t realize it when she ordered, was Chocoholic, who ordered the evening special “Grilled Mahi-Mahi”.
Dessert was tempting (“Louisiana Bread Pudding” with Bourbon, bananas and raisins, served warm with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream; “Raspberry Creme Caramel” with creme anglaice and raspberry coulis; or “Belgian Chocolate and Pistachio Terrine” with fruit coulis), but since it was nearly 10 o’clock and they had to get home to walk their ailing, aging puppy, we decided to call it a night.
It was a great evening, but I think next time we’ll go somewhere a little less expensive.
