The floor refinishing people are supposed to come in the morning to start work on the living room.
If you’ve ever been to Xoozland, you may remember that vomitous brown-beige wall-to-wall carpet. It’s almost all gone now, and will be before I go to sleep tonight!
But I’m worried for my little feathered friend Orson. I wanted to get him out of the house while the work is being done. Budgies have tender respiratory systems, and I didn’t want him exposed to the possibly dangerous fumes.
Unfortunately, when I tried to prepare him for the 45-minute drive across town, he got extremely upset and flustered. He squawked loudly for the entire minute I had a blanket wrapped around his cage; I didn’t even get a chance to move his cage to the car! He’s getting on in years now, so I decided it would be better for him to stay in the house than to face the stress of the trip.
I’ll have to do something to minimize his risk of exposure to the fumes, and I’ll try to spend as much time as I can with him while the work is being done.
