I was going to write a little something in my journal today because things at work are somewhere between slow and boring. I’ve finished all of the system and application changes I was working on over the past several months, and since the last one was a real honkin’ big change upon which a lot of other little things had been waiting, it was kind of like the dam burst and all those things can now be taken care of or investigated. But wait! No, I can’t work on them right away because I need to let the huge changes sit for a little while to make sure there aren’t any problems with it. So far, there haven’t been anything to worry about. Most of the “crises” I deal with following the implementation of the huge change were due to user training issues. Either they didn’t understand the new system, or they had developed so many bad habits with the predecessor that the new system wouldn’t let them do anymore. What I’ve been working on lately is little more than system documentation, and trying to clean up all the pieces of the huge change.
But instead of making a journal entry, I’m going to go home and see what trouble I can get into tonight. Actually, it won’t be much trouble since most of my personal energy for the next couple of months will be spent a) helping Chocoholic get her house ready to sell; or b) helping Chocoholic get her stuff moved into my house; or c) helping Chocoholic get settled in her new job(s).
It doesn’t look like I’ll get much time to play over the summer… drat!
