Here’s the Guest List from last weekend’s First Quadrennial Xoozland Leap Year Eve Party:
- (In order of appearance)
- Me **;
- Chocoholic **;
- Andrew (my younger brother);
- Jeff (a friend of Chocoholic‘s);
- Gary (my Grade 8 teacher!);
- Bonnie (Gary’s wife);
- Yacov (another friend of Chocoholic‘s);
- Arnaud (Chocoholic and I slept with him one night on our canoe trip last August!);
- Ruth (Arnaud’s Mystery Date);
- Shira (Chocoholic and I slept with her one night on our canoe trip last August! She’s currently VERY pregnant… I had nothing to do with it!);
- Dave (Shira’s man. HE had something to do with it!);
** While it may seem obvious to you that Chocoholic and I would be the first to appear at my own party, that didn’t necessarily have to be the case. My brother, who came in from out of town for the evening, could have arrived while I was picking Chocoholic up at the subway!
It was a nice party. Small, quiet, not many people (though it did make me realize how small and poorly laid out the house at Xoozland really is. Most/all of my previous parties took place out in the backyard!), but loaded with good conversation. And at midnight, we put on the token Silly Hats (I only had six!), blew through token noise-makers/horns (I only had eight!), did the 10-second countdown, and threw streamers and ticker-tape things! Just enough to set the tone for a New Tradition. And then a short time later, everybody left, I did a quick tidy-up, and Chocoholic were in bed by 12:30 am!
In other news, I’ve done a few exploratory cuts in the horrible, ugly, wall-to-wall carpet in the living room. Evidence shows the hardwood flooring underneath is in great condition. It may not need more than a really good cleaning! Now I’m kicking myself that I wasn’t brave enough to have taken a look a few years ago.
