I’m a Fat Head!

I know, I know… I should be doing something else (like laundry, or dishes, or cleaning bird cages… anything to help in the process of my Busy Weekend), but I’m having trouble getting going this morning.

So in the meantime, I checked my e-mail, and found this link after I did so.

Quiz: Do you have a poor diet? Find out how much bad fat you get.

Your Saturated Fat Assessment score is: 4 of a possible 17.

GOOD EATING! It’s likely that you watch your intake of saturated and trans fats, and avoid adding extra fat to your food.

To prevent cardiovascular disease and stroke, the American Heart Association suggests limiting dietary fat intake to no more than 30 percent of total calorie intake. If you are consuming an average of 2,000 calories per day, this translates to fewer than 67 total grams of fat per day.
Of this, only 8 percent to 10 percent of total calories, or 18-22 grams, should come from saturated fat.
Polyunsaturated fats should contribute only up to 10 percent of calories. Monounsaturated, the most heart-friendly fats, may provide up to 15 percent of total calories, or 33 grams.
Trans fats are a type of saturated fat that are formed when an unsaturated vegetable oil is transformed into a hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oil. Recent studies have shown that these fats, which are found in many packaged foods, may raise blood cholesterol.

The problem with this quiz is that none of the four choices actually fits my eating habits, so if I had to choose from “once or twice a week” and “never” but I eat it occasionally, I had to pick “never” which gives me a slightly better score on the quiz. Let’s just say I am well aware of the Fat Intake of my diet and leave it at that. Besides which, Chocoholic is responsible for the recent increase in my Chocoholic… um, I mean chocolate… consumption!
