So I booted up Gwendoline this evening, and it was with a great gnashing of teeth— or at least what sounded like that— coming from the area where the hard drive is! oh, oh! It sounds like I’m about to experience the Total Joy of Hard Disk Crash.
Fortunately, mainly because I am a Good Computer Geek, I have backed up to CD-R most of the contents of the drives associated with that physical hard disk. Just to be on the safe side, though, I have also copied the complete contents from that machine to Pandora. Silly me… I sent everything over to the “My Documents” folder… and learned the hard way that you cannot put over 15 Gb worth of data on what remains of a 5 Gb partition!
Now I’m running a complete Level Three Diagnostic on Gwendoline, just to A) identify if there are any real problems, and B) do some system maintenance which will help extend the life expectancy and put off the Impending Doom with its great gnashing of teeth and the Total Joy of Hard Disk Crash.
