Just call me “Stinky”!

Well, it’s been a fairly busy but productive couple of weeks!

Last week, I did all my XXXmas visiting, both having guests come to Xoozland, and going to stay with family.

This week, my first Winter Project is well underway, and I am quite pleased with my progress. All of the old, ugly wallpaper was removed; the walls were scrubbed clean; I caulked all the cracks and seams (much better than it ever was— it’s an old house built in 1922); a coat of primer was put on the bare wood; and the walls were painted— two coats, already dry.

Right now, I’m just waiting for the doors of the cabinet to dry— I had to clean them separately— so I can put the first coat on the trim.

The walls are “Flyaway Blue,” sort of a cross between “Robin’s Egg Blue” (which I couldn’t find on the swatches in the paint store) and “Orson Budgie Blue” (which I couldn’t get them to do a computer match for me… the feather wasn’t large enough or solid enough for their machine). The trim is going to be high gloss Ultra White.

It didn’t occur to me at the time I was picking the colours, but I’ve now got a sort of Wedgewood thing going on. Well, except for the ALMOND and BEIGE tub enclosure, which I’m not changing at this point.

The only problem is I haven’t had a shower or bath in three days because I want the paint to dry properly!

And while I’ve been waiting for the paint to dry between coats, I’ve been doing my annual system clean-up, organizing oodles and poodles of downloads, getting rid of junk I don’t need, and trying to do a system backup. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a really good application to allow me to do it easily… I want something that will let me say “back up drive C:, D:, E:, and G: to CD-R and span disks if necessary” without having to predetermine the contents of each CD created, or having to specify which files go where…

And other than that, I’m going to try to enjoy my last few days of vacation before I have to go back to work on Monday. That will be brutal, I am sure!
